Free Apparel Production Calendar Template
Enter your launch date and every milestone plans itself backwards. Includes actual-vs-planned variance tracking and benchmark durations for domestic and overseas production.
Why plan backwards
Forward planning produces optimism. You start at today, add what each step should take, and arrive at a date that assumes nothing goes wrong. Planning backwards from a fixed launch date gives you the dates things must happen by — and immediate visibility the moment one slips.
If the template tells you the earliest possible start was last month, that is useful information. It means the launch date is not achievable and you can change the date or the plan while you still have the choice.
Track one milestone above all others
Fabric in-house at the factory. Almost every late delivery traces back to fabric arriving later than assumed, and it slips quietly — weeks before anyone notices production start has moved with it. Confirm it in writing when the fabric is ordered, chase it weekly, and escalate the day it moves.
A calendar is only useful if you update it
Review it weekly against the factory’s own status and change the dates when they change. A calendar still showing the original dates three weeks into a delay is worse than no calendar, because it tells you everything is fine.
