Free Apparel Tech Pack Template
A factory-ready tech pack in spreadsheet form — cover, callouts, graded measurement spec, BOM, construction, colourways, labelling and a sample log. One workbook per style.
Why a tech pack is the cheapest quality control you can buy
Every detail you leave out becomes a decision somebody else makes — usually the cheapest or fastest option on the floor that day. Each of those decisions costs you a sample round, a price increase, or a defect you cannot reject because nothing said otherwise.
The practical test of a finished tech pack: two different factories, given only this document, would produce the same garment.
The two things most brands get wrong
No tolerances
A measurement without a tolerance is not a spec, it is a wish. Tolerance is what separates normal production variation from a defect — and without one written down, “off-spec” is just your opinion against the factory’s.
Grading only the base size
Fit complaints cluster at the ends of a size range, and that is almost always a grade-rule problem rather than a sewing problem. Spec the whole run, not just the sample size.
Version control matters more than it sounds
Factories work from whatever file they have. If two versions are circulating, you will be billed for the difference. Increment the version on the Cover sheet every time you send it out and note what changed.
